Grant Sligh, a dear friend and colleague, died over the past weekend. I am generally at a loss as to what to say....I never for a moment thought that I would be writing a eulogy for him so goddam soon. He was responsible for my entry into the animation industry, for exposing me to countless artists, animators, bands, snappy ways of dressing...and god knows what else. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.Once, after one of our many rows, he sent me this song by one of his favorite bands. Never has it seemed more appropriate.

UPDATE: For those of you out there who knew Grant and stumble across this post, I am sorry you had to find out this way. Feel free to email me - I am more than happy to provide more information to anyone that wants it.

He will be missed.
Grant was a good friend. He seemed to always push everyone away from him. Through it all, you always knew you'd be friends forever. He could always make jabs at you, but he couldn't quite ever take them. I know he thought the world of you. And I'm not sure any one of us could have really been there for him 100%. He wouldn't have allowed it. I can't believe it isn't all a joke. I still have a message from Grant on my voicemail wishing me a merry christmas. It's hard to say goodbye. I miss you. We had a lot of good times.

I knew Grant as a teenager in Scotland. I only just learned today of his death, I'm totally shocked even more so that for some reason even though I haven't seen him in 17 years I was just thinking about him last week??? Rest in peace Grant, I have some fond memories. Julie. xx

I was a good friend of Grants in days gone by In Greenock and Janeys and the Bow. He was a mate and I remember he pinched my Creedance Clearwater Revivial Lp the day he headed to America. I was gutted but had to laugh at the cheek, he told my mum he had left a few things in my room that day. He was a good friend and will be missed.From Craig (now in Dubai)
I'm friends with Grants mum,dad & family... I met him before he was even in school .. then again we lived in Virginia together.. he was always a goodlooker :~)
I can't take it in that he's no longer with us... it's the loved ones left behind who suffer now from missing him,

Just spoke to him a month or so ago. Hard to accept this sad news. The boy had grit and talent not matched by many.
I was at the funeral and hadn't seen Grant since he left Scotland so it was nice to see the pics from Aron in his links and from rusty too. These drove home the fact that he had hardly changed from the person I knew well. Still hard to believe I won't see him again.

I found out yesterday and it still doesn't seem real. It's hard to believe that Im never going to hear his ridiculous accent again.
I have so many great stories that star Grant, and it's hard to accept that there wont be anymore.

When Grant was 11 l used to go over to Dunoon and babysit Grant and his wee sister,, he would meet me off the ferry as he always knew l would have a wee mod thing for him yes he even dressed as a mod then. then he was into Duran Duran, rockabilly, grunge then back to mod,he was my nephew and l love and miss him so much,he was a pain in the bum sometimes we let him win arguments cos if you didnt he would go on and on and on,, all his friends will understand what l mean [haha]he was always a dapper dresser, good looker [and knew it]haha.most beautiful smile and believe it or not quite sensitive.Grant is in heaven now with his granny and uncle and lets hope they have "pie and gravy" and plenty o "chocolate cake".we always have and always will love you doll... aunty louise ,uncle brian, cousins sean and ryan adams...loiuseadams8@aol.com
I met Grant 7 years ago while we were working on a pilot episode together. After the gig ended we kept in touch for a while but I haven't heard from him in about a year.
I wish I could think of something less clichéd to say than "I really liked him," but I did.
I'll miss you, my friend.

I crossed paths with Grant on a number of projects & in a few pubs. Didn't get to know him well, but his energy & spirit were always razor-sharp & his words straight to the point, no bullshit. Very professional & very mischievous- a born provocateur. And yes, a natty dresser. I'm going to miss him, and I regret I didn't get to work with him more & catch his crazy waves. See you in Eternity, Grant.
I spent alot of my life with Grant. There was nobody like him, lots of charm, no bullshit, both tough and tender, driven in his work, alot of fun and a real heart of gold. He was a rarity, and I'm glad we had a chance to share so much of our growing up and traveling and just being together. I'm missing him terribly.

Grant Sligh was a very courteous and decent person. I happened to be a neighbor and remember many times we spoke. But mostly i am saddened by his passing as he was a vibrant and very likeable man.He was very respectable.Rest in Peace and may God hold you.
